Tourism was Belize’s socioeconomic backbone until the pandemic. Now many individuals, including those who worked in the once burgeoning food, arts and crafts, and hospitality industries, are out of work. Compounding the issue, the Belizean government is no longer accepting unemployment applications so those who weren’t accepted into the program or just recently lost their jobs will not have a financial safety net to weather this difficult period.
As a Belizean, the images of long food pantry lines devastated Founder, Desire’s heart. It is a call to action. The aim of this campaign is to provide families with emergency funds to purchase much needed food.
